I'm a small-town 'girl.' (Rural North Dakota to be exact.)

It's a good place to write from, distractions--like coffee shops and bookstores--are at a minimum. So are stop lights and shopping malls. All that adds up to more time to write.

My life-long dream was to write ONE book...I never dreamt about a second book, much less a third, fourth, or eighth! Just goes to show God can dream much bigger than we can.

The Secret of Us is a reflection on how difficult it can be to keep a relationship alive and how easily a love can get lost in the monotony of everyday life, habit and work and all that goes with it. And how important communication is.
I want to say it is beautifully written but the story of Laura, Donnie and Stasha is heart wrenching and reading it I felt all of the emotions they were going through. So yes, it is beautifully written.
It is my first novel by Roxanne Henke and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books. And I can practically hear my TBR pile groan...

I've read this before - marriage in trouble, workaholism, potential infidelity, etc. That being said, this was a fine e ample of the genre and I would compare it favorably to Karen Kingsbury or Sally John. If you like them, give this a try.

Roxanne has done it again! A wonderfully fantastic look into the lives and thoughts of her characters - I didn't want to put the book down! The characters are real and there is a depth to her writing that you rarely find. This story is captivating as she tells about two women facing major decisions regarding marriage. How do you make being a couple work? What is the Biblical thing to do when your marriage is falling apart? Roxanne faces these questions with empathy and understanding, weaving a story that will touch your life and point the way to true happiness. I love Roxanne's books - anything she writes, I will read.

This is the second book I've read by Roxanne, and she does a great job presenting a story with a realistic characters.I like how each chapter jumps to another person's perspective. By getting inside each person's head, you as the reader get to see both sides of the story and can relate them to incidences in your own life.

This book was...just fine. The charecters were mainly cookie cutter people, making really stupid thoughtless mistakes that you'd like to shake them for. But the writing wasn't horrible, and it has a nice little lesson in it. If you're not too picky, which clearly a good majority of Christian fiction readers aren't, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this book. Even if you are picky, you probably won't hate it.

I have loved every book I've read by Roxanne Henke! After you read "The Secret of Us" be sure to read "Finding Anne" and that series of four books.

Boring, predictable ending and underdeveloped characters. Lots of religious undertones throughout the book (was this a Christian book?) Took the main character till more than halfway through the book to do anything about her boring marriage. Definitely skipped a lot of the fluff and skimmed dialogue to get to the end. Don't waste your time.

It was a remarkable book about the problems and special sharing moments of marriage and commitment.
