I have a friend who had a vasectomy at age 21. His wife-to-be knew that he would be unable to have children, but after two years of marriage she was pushing him to get a reversal so they could have a child.
This book would have been perfect for her! It's a blend of common sense, getting in touch with your inner self, listening to your mother, aunt, or grandma's voice in the back of your head--along with workbook-like activities to make you more cognizant of your situation.
Every other page has a meaningful, timely quote that gets you thinking. A cute addition is that at the end of every nice compact chapter a box gives you three options to check:
1) I totally get this chapter,
2) I should re-read this chapter, and
3) Blank (fill in name) needs to read this chapter.
Spina encourages you to think about what you want in perspective mate by getting you to think about your own situation and personality, and then highlighting what to look out for. She advocates having a balance between keeping your individuality and sharing yourself with your partner.
Tea Leoni says it all in her quote, "We realized how well we worked together. We encouraged each other's strengths and supported each others weaknesses." That's what we all strive for in a partnership.
Armchair Interviews says: Great for women looking to get involved for the first time or after a divorce. This book provides superb advice that will ring true to most women.
She provides some helpful insights for women on getting their lives in order before choosing a life partner. In the movie Runaway Bride, Julia Roberts character is like a chameleon, adapting her style to whichever boyfriend she has at the time. Eventually, she figures out what she likes, needs, and wants for her life.
Similarly, Ranee's book helps women figure out what they want BEFORE they get married; and in doing so, will prevent women from being Runaway Brides.
