Cecilia “Pudge” Kleinkauf, known as the owner of Women’s Flyfishing, A Trout Unlimited Endorsed Business, has been Alaska’s leading woman fly fishing instructor, fly tier, and guide, for over 30 years. Renowned for her teaching skills in both fly fishing and fly tying, she has offered lodge-based flyfishing schools and small-group guided trips for women and couples to a wide variety of Alaska’s best-known fly fishing locations. She has also guided clients to Mexico, Ireland, Sweden, and, Argentina.
A retired University Professor and lawyer, as well as a 45-year Alaska resident, Pudge was one of the “Special Explorers” in the Alaska Magazine Television series on PBS for its entirety. A regular presenter at outdoor shows in Alaska and around the country, Pudge, is a member, and one of the founders of the Intl. Women Fly Fishers Organization. A long-time member of Trout Unlimited, the Federation of Fly Fishers, and the Alaska Fly Fishers, Pudge has also served as Pro Staff for many fly fishing companies including at Elite status for Sage fly rods, as one of the first & longest women at Ross Reels, Patagonia and others.
Now retired from her Women’s Flyfishing guide service, which continues to provide service to fly fishing women as Women’s Flyfishing, Alaska LLC, A Trout Unlimited Endorsed Business, Pudge will be fishing (of course) as well as promoting her five books on her new web site, www.pudgekleinkauf.com. She’ll also continue to write for Fish Alaska Magazine and other fly fishing publications, as well as work on book #6 in the coming days.
The new web site will contain fly fishing newsletters, resurrections of some of Pudge’s past articles from Fish Alaska Magazine at readers request, as well as notes & photos from our readers.
