I am an avid reader of metaphysical books and found this one to be especially good. The exercises are fast, easy and most importantly THEY WORK! I have been to lots of workshops etc. etc. etc. and was just amazed at how easy the exercises are to connect with. One of the things I liked best about this book is that the author does not claim to be "gifted" from birth, from ten generations of psychic readers or suffered a near death experience. He seems to be a basic guy that taught himself how to really tap into his innate psychic abilities. Then he takes it a step further and shares his knowledge. I really related to his writing and teaching style.

Well worth the price, I even just ordered the cassette (now I just have to find a cassette player - hahahaha)!

I had this book sitting in my closet for years and finally took it out and read it over the weekend. I'd like to say that I enjoyed Friendland's writing style and appreciate all the information he provides in this book.

The reason why I am giving this book three stars is because I feel that Friedland's summary on many of the different meditation styles is a bit vague. I have taken classes on meditation, healing and clairvoyance from schools that were either mentioned in the book (or similar schools that offer identical programs) or by other authors who have elaborated a bit more on the meditation styles. I found that Friedland oversimplified some of the visualizations. Also, it would have been a very good idea to provide drawings/illustrations for novice users in order to get a very clear understanding of how to center one's self and run energy, etc. A diagram of chakra placement throughout the human body would have been nice also. Unfortunately the reader is left to his or her own personal interpretation and although this about working at (and finding one's) own personal approach, I think it would be a good idea to provide visuals in order to convey information that cannot be easily misinterpreted/misunderstood.

One other thing that concerned me was his casual mentioning of the Ouija board. He makes such a light mention of this but I find this type of material to be dangerous for some people. I firmly believe that there are energies out there that should not be tinkered with. I personally discourage its use and I know a lot of people who feel the same way. For those of you that have no experience with this but are on the fence thinking about the idea I highly suggest you do more research before messing with this.

Be that as it may, Friedland does provide the reader with the sources as to where certain types of meditation and visualization techniques can be learned. So if a reader is inclined to take things a bit further s/he can do some digging around online to find more elaborate information.

I have bookmarked over a dozen pages myself in order to do some digging for more information on some of the sources he provides in this book.

I have not yet read this book, but felt I needed to comment on Magellan's review. First, I'd like to say that even though I disagree with you, I am impressed with your in-depth support for your argument. You have gained my respect. Well, I don't understand how a martial artist can think ESP and its counterparts are a farce. Do you practice or believe in chi? Also, how can you claim that ESP, telepathy, etc. are bunk, when there is so much proof of the contrary. Ex: Stargate (CIA's program for Remote Viewing), police solving cases admittedly with the assistance of psychics, so many tightly controlled independent studies, etc. Discredit the aforementioned circumstances, and I will take your side from now on.

Be Psychic Now has great exercizes for increasing your psychic powers and for running your brain. I originally checked this book out from the library, but I found it so full of good ideas, I had to buy it and add it to my library. The exercizes in this book are definately improving my life!!

Interesting read about how the author developed his psychic skills. It makes you realize that it is possible to develop your psychic skills as easily as John did by using the over 50 excellent techniques the author includes in this book. I found this an excellent book for general self development and specific psychic development. Good book

This book is a great manual for learning how extend the use of your brain. It's really comical when someone like "Magellan" tries to serve up their theories on the rest of us as if they are some genius like Darwin. Magellen doesn't know what he's talking about. Any rational scientist in this day and age will tell you that they are still studying and finding things about the brain that was not known on a daily basis. And everyone's brain is unique to them, so it's impossible for scientists to lump everybody in one category as Magellan did. The real answer is that they simply do not know what our brain's potential is. And Magellan is also wrong about our brains not generating electrical energy; that was proven years ago. That why our brains give electrical impulses that can be read on machines. I know far too many people from all over the planet who have learned to do some amazing things with their brains. The only thing that Magellan shows to me is that he has no experience is this area and has no idea that these things are an every day reality for some people in every walk of life. It's totally ridiculous for someone like Magellan to try and dictate what reality is for everyone else. Magellan, if you have yet to experience any of these things in the book, that's your problem, but you don't get to invalidate MY experiences because YOU didn't have them. For everyone else, check the book out and get the validation from your own experience.

It's a good book! There are many interesting exercises to choose from and I think it's a great tool for anyone wanting to develop their different gifts. I found that the author was a bit too technical at times but given his background it's understandable.
