This edition is perfect for serious study for anyone willing to confront the New Testament appreciatively but critically. Though low-priced, it is very extensively annotated and cross-referenced, more than the Harper-Collins Study Bible and much more than the Oxford Annotated Bible. It is a Catholic version with the imprimatur of the Vatican, but is very scholarly and self-critical. For example, regarding Jesus' entry into Jerusalem where Matt. 21:5-7 describes Jesus as riding on both an ass and a colt fulfilling the prophecy of Zech. 9:9, this edition points out that only one animal was involved, and the duplication was a Hebrew literary device (parallelism), and "that Matthew takes them as two is one of the reasons why some scholars think that he was a Gentile rather than a Jewish Christian who would presumably not make that mistake." The edition also has very extensive study guides.

I wanted to try this new version of the New Testament and found it very conducive for prayerful reading. I like the words of Christ in red. If one wanted to in order to add variety in reading one could just read and pray on Christ's words as being printed in red is easy to find. What I really enjoy in this edition are the study pages. I think the study pages included make buying this edition worth it.

This is a wonderful edition of the New Testament. I Love the content, the extensive footnotes, maps, topical index, doctrinal index and study guide! It is easy to read typeface with space between words and between the lines. I don't know the size of the font - maybe 12 or 13 pt. I think that should be listed in the description of the book by Amazon. Last year I ordered this same book and the paper used was whiter & brighter which made the text clearer and easier to read. I personally prefer the whiter paper. In the Bibles I just received last week, the paper is a little dingier that typical printer paper.

The cover is different from the picture, not too concerned about that as I think I am going to have to get some kind of book cover as it is a very loose book...not the binding that seems OK but the cover is made out of thin material.

This printing is not worth the $8 being charged. Thin paper is common in bibles, but this book’s paper is so thin, I don’t see it lasting long without tears. The binding is poorly glued so that the entire book is warped and wavy. Get a different edition!

I love this Catholic New Testament with its wonderful study guide at the back. The translation is well done and a pleasure to read. I loved the introductions at the front of each book in the N.T. as they were interesting and well written! It is paperback but designed in such a way that when you open it, it stays open. And as for the study guide, it would take you a year to get through all of it as there is just so much of it. I loved this so much that I bought more copies to give away as presents! A definite buy!
