I used to watch "Bring Em Back Alive Frank Buck" on TV. I found out years later that my Uncle Roy Vincent was a cameraman for Frank Buck, although Frank Buck never mentions him. So, when I saw this book I was looking forward to reading it. My Uncle had told me stories about his working with Frank Buck. He said that he had courage beyond belief. He put himself in danger just to get the animals on camera. He said many time they had to run and a get up a tree or into their truck.

I grew up watching Frank Buck movies on Saturday morning. I've seen each and every one many times over and have read most, if not all, of his books. I never tired of them. I really appreciated this edition of his book. Frank was a true pioneer.

Highlights in the career of an American animal collector based out of Singapore in the 1930s. Buck is as much a showman as a 'hunter' of live animals for export back to the States, evident from the colorful and action-packed narrative style. Unfortunate that his other books are out of print.

Excellent story of the man who introduced city folk to the wild kingdom. He loved & respected animals & his great& exciting work enabled us all too as well. So glad it survived to keep his exploits alive.

One of my mom's child - hood favorites that I have been hearing about all my life. This volume not only consists of the title book but one of his other books as well as information about his life and a bit about his movies. Mom was thrilled!

Really wanted the video....but the book is interesting. In the thirties they had a series for the movies called "Bring "Em Back Alive" that chased after Tigers, Orangetan and other animals.....was really exciting.

Buck was at his peak at the time the film industry was most able to exploite what he had to offer. This resulted him in featuring many films and at least 8 books most of which are only now available in old dusty copies. This more recent publication gives a good idea of the world of Buck and is well edited and includes corrections of words derived from the Malay.

Of interest to anyone who likes to know about the relationship between animal and man.
