Murphy is passionate about public service and serves as a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he is currently assigned to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Commander Murphy is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Meritorious Defense Service Medal and the Afghan campaign medal, among others.
Morgan lives in Birmingham, Ala., where he serves on the boards of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, the St. Andrew's Society of the Middle South, and Independent Presbyterian Church.
