More pieces from this book for a cheap price than any on the market. The sheet music is nice and easy to read. Good left and right hand fingerings. Standard arrangements and over 500 years of music are represented starting with Renaissance music and going to 20th century pieces. The ring binding makes it so great n being able to turn pages on a music stand for convenience. Great book and must buy for classical guitar players.

I was hoping that "plastic comb" meant spiral bound but it's just your standard large paperback music book. Oh well, it's a great book, so I'm definitely keeping it!

Order of pieces is mostly chronological, starting with a 14th century Anonymous piece, then it goes through the centuries, ending at 1860-1909. Composers include lesser known composers like John Dowland and Francis Cutting to famous composers like Bach, Handel, Carulli, etc. Many pieces are multiple pages long, so you have a lot of longer pieces to learn and play. The notation looks great, has finger and string markings.

If you love playing classical guitar, you probably have a decent collection of music books. You should definitely add this large and diverse collection of classical guitar compositions to your library.

Couldn't believe it when I got this book for $10. Out of print. Becoming hard to find. But still one of the best collections of master works. The Tarrega pieces are among my favorites and I never tire of Fernando Sor. Many of the minuet selections are beautiful and the Guillani pieces are great exercises and showman pieces.

I was glad that the Amazon reseller was able to ship a comb bound version, which sweetened the pot even more. This is a great collection that contains many of the literature's "chestnuts" and then some. I guess I can't fault them for also wanting to include lute literature, though as a lutenist guitar tuning seems like more work than is necessary--except maybe for the vihuela pieces which can be stretchy either way. Some of the lute pieces are in lute (g=f#) and that's a good thing. My one gripe with anthologies like this is their maddening refusal to include opus numbers with all of the works, not just the major works. The the Sor, Carcassi, Guiliani and other studies are all drawn from different collections of studies and collections of short pieces. Why do they assume we don't want or need to know their catalog numbers? I suppose we're getting this stuff on the cheap, but it's not like they didn't have the info right there during the editing process! Not a deal-breaker by any stretch, just an irritant.

I bought this great big book with the hope that it would include tab and was dissapointed that it did not. I can read music, but I do not know the guitar fretboard beyond the first four frets. If, like me, you need tab to play the pieces it would be better to look for an edition of this product that includes tab, this one does not. It is requiring me a lot of effort to transfer the pieces I want to learn to tab. As for the works included in the book I was only familiar with about eight pieces. the rest I will have to hunt down a recording of to see if It will be worth my while to learn to play them. Good luck.

This edition is excellent value and a "must have" in the library of any classical guitarist. Many popular tunes all in one place and for an excellent price. Its spiral bound so easy to use. Although some pieces are printed so half is on one page and half on another which is annoying to say the least. But for the money you cannot go wrong with this book!
