I really like Hanry Ramsay's book Matching Major Eastern Hatches. The book chapters are laid out nicely. The fly patterns are great and as a fly tyer I'll be able to use a lot of these patterns on Eastern trout streams. I'm looking forward to fly fishing with some of Mr Ramsays patterns this year. The photographs in the book of the various trout streams are great. I like seeing places I know or might want to use the fly patterns. I highly recommand this book and would give it a ten star rating if I could.

Oh...there is a problem when fishing with Henry's flies, one is apt to become too cautious. These little beauties are like having miniature works of art attached to your tippet...you hate the thought of losing one! This beautiful book is a well illustrated introduction to Henry's flies with tips on how to fish them. One can attempt to follow the steps in creating one of these gems...but why bother when the master himself will create and send you a beauty for a couple of bucks. And by the way,in addition to their aesthetic appeal...they catch fish! My fish count has at least doubled since using his flies. Buy this book... and tie them or better yet... ask Henry to. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Pennsylvania angler, Henry Ramsay can help you tie more effective trout flies for the hatches found in N.E. Trout environs--notably in Pennsylvania and New York. His ties are modernizations of tyers like Vince Marinaro and Art Flick. His text is readable and concise, and peppered with many stories about the mayflies, caddis and the patterns he ties to imitate them. I recommend this book without reservation.

There are a ton of books written on fly fishing each year and, overall, are just fluff. This book is a must have. Very creative new patterns for matching our Eastern hatches. Buy it!

I didn't want to spend money on yet another fly tying book, but my friend highly recommended this book to me, and I'm glad he did. Eastern Hatches has a lot of information about entomology, so it's more than just a fly-tying book. As far the fly-tying patterns, many are different than the usual, standard patterns, so this book opened a whole new chapter of tying for me, especially of tying with CDC.

Basically a fly tying book, nothing wrong with it but like so many others.

Well-written, down to the smallest detail.
Bien illustré, donne envie d'aller faire un petit voyage de pêche dans l'eastern...
Les fiches de montage sont applicables, avec quelques petites modifications, à nos rivières européenne.
Bon bouquin.

This book has lots of good patterns, great photos and is very informative.

As a fly fishing guide in Ontario I found lots of similarities and great patterns for this area. I`ve already whipped up a bunch of these patterns and can`t wait to try them out..

I would recommend this book to eastern USA and Ontario fly tiers.
