Culled from nearly 20 years of the playwright's career, a showcase for Tom Stoppard's dazzling range and virtuosic talent, The Real Inspector Hound and Other Plays is essential reading for fans of modern drama. So far I've only read the Real Inspector Hound. I saw it about 30 years ago. It was stunning. Only beat by The Importance of Being Earnest.

This early Stoppard one-act play is a brilliant take-off of conventional country house murder mysteries. Rich character parts. Not like the later over-intellectual Stoppard. Still, superbly crafted entertainment, recently produced with huge success by the Old Boys of Hereford Cathedral School during the Three Choirs Festival. Several other early Stoppard plays are included in the volume. The scripts for radio are especially clever without being obscure.
