I admit: I have no clue who the Thunderbolts are and I'd never read Deadpool before, though I'm familiar with his character just by being a Marvel fan. I decided to read all the Dark Reign trades, and this popped up on my radar. And I loved it.

I started with  Deadpool, Vol. 2: Dark Reign , which provides a paragraph recapping this trade about halfway through. So, I stopped that book to read this one. Happily, readers don't need to know who the Thunderbolts are (or even read the other trade) because this book can stand alone. Readers should be familiar with the overarching story of Dark Reign, and Norman Osborn being in power, but beyond that, Deadpool himself recaps how he got where he is on the first page. Essentially, Deadpool thinks Osborn owes him money, and Norman has been trying to have him killed. The other trade covers Tiger Shark and Bullseye's attempts, and the two trades really should've been combined into one collection. However, both are worth purchasing.

After getting over the initial shock, because it is unlike any other comic I have ever read, I found Deadpool to be hysterically funny, unbelievably violent, and overall an amazing character. Some of the dialog was lost on me until I figured out Deadpool was having two-sided conversations- between him and his brain. Even other characters didn't know if he was speaking to them! Plus, I loved Deadpool's flirting with the [evil] Black Widow; it was raunchy and hilarious. This trade is not essential to Dark Reign continuity but it is a fantastic story that is well worth reading.

Overall, I think I'm hooked on Deadpool and will definitely be reading more. I wouldn't recommend this for young readers because it is extremely violent, even gory at times, and Deadpool is not strictly a hero. He can and will commit murder. But for adults, Deadpool is an experience every comic reader should try!

Having read a few Deadpool books so far this one is up there as one of the most I enjoyed reading. In summary, Deadpool's main focus throughout the story is to get money that was owed to him from Osborne. Instead he goes toe to toe with a newly formed Thunderbolts team that has hard time dealing with Deadpool. What I enjoyed about reading this is the attempts by the Thunderbolts to try and catch Deadpool and also Deadpool himself. Deadpool always provide a few quick jokes to make the reading more humorous. For those who want more from the Dark Reign event, this is a solid read. It doesn't get more in detail into the Dark Reign events but it tells the story of Deadpool during that time period. For Deadpool fans, this is obviously a must buy.

This Volume takes place between Deadpool Volume 1 and 2, so read Volume 1 before you get to this one. It's typical Deadpool humor and pure craziness.

Deadpool feels he's owed payment from Norman Osborn, the new director hammer, and he wants his cash. That is more or less what this book is, wade going after Osborn for his cash, and Norman deploying his new black ops thunderbolt team to fend wade off. Throw in taskmaster as the straight man to the clown that is wade, and you got yourself a crossover. Now, I only gave it seems four because while it is funny, I was hoping for some more variation of the jokes and wades interactions with the thunderbolt is kind of boring. He hits on blackwidow the entire time, but other than that nothing funny ready happens. Wade and Osborne interactions are really the funniest. This really doesn't tie in to the overall dark reign story, but it is fun cornerstone is.

Although Osborn would rather contract the Dark Avengers, aka the Thunderbolts, to eliminate Deadpool rather than pay up. The numbers advantage the thunderbolts but It's almost impossible to kill an immortal such as Deadpool, especially when there are two of him? This story is very creative, although it would be impossible for it not to be. I ordered this book at the same time I pre-ordered Daniel Ways newer 2013 Thunderbolts. Although I didn't realize that the T-bolt squads were very different, excluding Deadpool. This book was fun but I personally enjoyed the newer series a lot more. With that being said, I give Dark Reign 3.3/5 stars.

This Continuation of the Deadpool Dark Reign story arc is very good. Gotta admit though slightly pissed that I had to buy this to find out what happens in the middle of Deadpool Volume 2: Dark Reign.
