I bought this Spectrum 7th Grade Math workbook for my eleven year old daughter. I've found it ideal for her, since each subject is introduced with good clear concise explanations, and she hates reading anything long or complicated. As other reviewers have commented, the exercises are plentiful and well structured. My daughters who is good at maths generally, has been whizzing through it. I would say the level is 6th/7th grade.

Since buying this Math workbook, I've bought the 8th grade math workbook and 8th grade enrichment workbook for her to progress onto, as well as the Geometry and Agebra workbooks for more concentrated practice. I've also bought her the Spectrum English books including writing, language arts, phonics and vocabulary. She loves using them all and has made massive progress in her English which was weak, but now probably at an A standard.

I've become such a Spectrum fan that I've also bought the science workbooks (literally superb) and just ordered the test books and Geography.

I'm a homeschooling mom and use a lot of curricula products but Spectrum is hands down best value for money and absolutely top notch. I also use and have used Singapore Math, MEP Math, School Specialty Publishing, A Brighter Child, and Pylon Math, but if I had to choose just one curriculum I'd recommend Spectrum since it covers all the bases and does it well.

I purchased the Spectrum Math - Grade 7 for my 7th grader to use as a review over the summer. Math is not his favorite subject and he's a bit ADHD.... The summer break is juuuuussssttt long enough that he has a hard time getting back into the "math groove" once school begins again in September. I bought Spectrum Math and had him work on the assignments for abut an hour three times per week. Not enough to make it feel like "work" - but enough to keep the math concepts fresh. Interestingly enough - he has a friend that comes over twice a week to work on it with him. Both boys will be ready for school in a couple weeks and the way they turned this "summer school homework" into a game by competing to solve the story problems - they've actually enjoyed doing math! The book is "progressive" - it begins with easier problems and works thru simple addition/subtraction to fractions to beginning algebra. It's the same type of work they're doing at school. I think these text books are excellent for keeping skills sharp during summer break.

bought this along with the grade 6 book.
son needed to bring up math score to get into a selective public school.

prior to these books his math score was way too low.
after using them, he passed with flying colors!

how he worked through the books:
1. took the chapter pretest
2. did only the lessons necessary to master any problem areas identified on pretest
3. took the chapter posttest
4. moved on to next chapter - never had any problems on posttest

This is challenging in that there are problems/subjects that due to the Common Core & critical thinking developmental program, are I feel way too advance at these early grades. I couldn't do some of these problems that quickly & not able to teach my kids the concepts so readily (need a real teacher & homework & repetitive learning/practice which had gone by the way side today).

Don't expect my kids to get every answer right - but it is there to be used to be challenged.

It is a needed tool to keep their brains active during the summer (also during the school year).

Wonderful for my daughter who was about to enter 7th grade. It would also be excellent for a student who just exited 7th as a review, or as supplementary workbook to use as practice during the school year. I really like the format of the workbook and as a teacher--now a stay-at-home mom, I can highly recommend this book as excellent in the line of workbooks. Practice the correct way can make perfect---or close to it, since we are not perfect people, but thanks to a company like Specturm, we can certainly improve.

I am home schooling my son and as a teacher I have been exposed to a lot of curriclums and I really like these books for teaching this subject because they are to the point and uncluttered

Homeschooling parent here. This was a great resource to reinforce my son's understanding of mathematics. We paired it with Spectrum Algebra for 6-8 grades. For a kid who likes Math, this workbook was kind of like an activity book! But I can understand how other non-math-minds would find that it is more like work :)

We have been using this over the summer - because I have found it is easy to loose some skills in 12 weeks. I have my daughter take the chapter pretest. If she gets any questions wrong I have her focus on those type problems. Even when she scores all correctly, I sometimes pick out a page of a type of problem. I think it is a good book, useful. I definitely see it as a workbook, not an instructional guide.
