It's an excellent book - if only to convince me that I am so not ready to take on the responsibility and cost of owning a horse. There are many good tips about riding, though, and as I continue my riding lessons, I feel encouraged to look for vacation destinations that offer trail riding for the tourists.

This book is almost too basicc. I find myself skipping chapters because it starts as if the reader has never ridden a horse. Examples such as how to purchase a horse. Where to search for riding instructor. But, there are some good tips on how to prepare you and yourself for the trail. However the author doesn't explain how just what a rider should know.

This book is a great value. Ive only skimmed it so far, but its just what I was looking for. a basic guide to trail riding.

Beginner's best buy for overall horse owning & care. No secret things to "do on the trail or getting there", but a comprehensive introduction. A must for early horse riders (who can read). Great resource section in Appendix.

This book provides not only excellent advice to riders venturing out for their first trail ride but also provides insight into more challenging rides, including horse camping, endurance racing, and trail trials. It is a complete horsemanship manual - including valuable information on horse health, nutrition, training, and conditioning. This would be a very useful addition to any horseman's library.
