Mom's Family Calendar 2011 Calendar – Wall Calendar, May 15, 2010

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 65 ratings

The 17-month calendar that keeps Mom and the whole family organized, Mom's Family Calendar marries the organizational powers of a planner with the utter cuteness of Sandra Boynton's animal characters—those lovable hippos and cows, pigs, chickens, and dogs—hopping, dancing, and skipping through the grids. The grids run vertically, with five columns across the top (one for each family member) and the days of the month running down the left-hand side. There's plenty of room to write in every person's activities for each day, and Mom and Dad can easily see who's doing what, when. Includes a drop-down storage pocket, 500 stickers, and a write-on, wipe-off magnetic phone list to hang on the fridge. This is Family Central, with a big Boynton smile.

Sandra Boynton is a popular American cartoonist, children's author, songwriter, producer, animator, and director. Since 1974, Boynton has written and illustrated over seventy-five children's books and seven general audience books, including five New York Times Bestsellers. More than 85 million of her books have been sold, "mostly to friends and family," she says. She has also written—with Michael Ford—and produced six albums of renegade children's music. Three of her six albums have been certified Gold [over 500,000 copies sold] and "Philadelphia Chickens," nominated for a Grammy, has been certified Platinum [over 1 million copies sold.] Boynton has also directed twelve music videos of her songs, including the award-winning "One Shoe Blues" starring B. B. King, "Alligator Stroll" starring Josh Turner, and "Tyrannosaurus Funk" (animation) sung by Samuel L. Jackson. Early in the pandemic, she collaborated remotely with Yo-Yo Ma on three animated shorts: "Mooing Home" for Mr. Ma's Songs of Comfort project; "Chanson Profonde", a good-natured sendup of French chanson; and, as a companion to her book of the same title, "Jungle Night", Boynton's cello/guitar/percussion arrangement of Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1". She lives in rural New England, and her studio is in a barn with perhaps the only hippopotamus weathervane in America.

I'm a Dad and I love this family calendar. A lot of thought must have gone into the layout - it's quite a departure from a standard grid calendar. Names of family members go across the top and the dates run down the side. The calendar is quite large - nearly 12"W X 24"H when unfolded - and a single month spans near all of that area. This results in nice, large, easy-to-read boxes with plenty of space to write. It is easy to write events spanning multiple family members (horizontally) or multiple days (vertically). This is the second year that our family has used this calendar. We have three school age children and this calendar definitely makes planning and managing all the activities they are involved in much easier. Piano lessons, sports practices and games, school events, birthday parties - are all there to see at a glance.

Note that the calendar is a 17 month (starting in August). I just saw that 2012 version will be available in July. I know I'll be getting it.

My only complaint is that it should be called Mom and DAD'S Family Calendar. :-)

I buy this calendar every year. It helps to keep the schedules of a busy family very organized and easy to view. The stickers are a fun addition and we love to mark the important and fun events with them. We use a different color magic marker for each family member, which keeps each person's activity easy to spot and adds great colors to an already fun to look at calendar!

I don't need the 16 month version, since I buy one each year, but that seems to be the only one available. I just cut out the pages I don't need and I'm good to go!

I've used Mom's Calendar for the past two years. I originally found it in a department store and was delighted to know that I could get it on Amazon. The great thing about Mom's Calendar is the layout. There are spaces for 5 family members across the top (The Mom slot is already filled in). The days of the month run down the side so it is perfect for a door or refrigereator to lay-out visually the activities of the month. From the phone it's easy to see if a day is marked off with something even without reading glasses!

A great product that I will continue to use.

This is now our third year of using this calendar and there's no way we'd get along without it! With four family members going in four different directions at all times, the set up of this calendar is perfect to make sure everything is logistically possible. It's perfect for my 8 year old to be able to look at her column and know what's going on or to look and know when mom and dad are coming and going. I've used the fifth column as a designated pet appointment column or as a column for an "All Family" outing. I don't see us ever using another calendar for as long as the kids are home and dragging mom and dad to 20 different places each and every week.

With everyone going in different directions these days it is hard to keep track of everything. This calendar is soooo useful. A section for each of our activites, plenty of room, and so easy to read!! It has put the organization back in our lives, not to mention the fact that we are at the right place for activities now. Highly recommend. Even has a spot you can put your husband so you know if you have to make dinner that night **)

Every year I say I'll use the other calendars, because this one is getting harder and harder to find. Each year, I say I'll use one of the other myriad calendars out there with pockets and space to write stuf... But EVERY year, those other calendars fall short. There is no other calendar with space to write what each member of my very busy family is doing on EACH day of every month; no other calendar with such quirkily cute pictures, no other calendar that makes me smile to see the crazy color scheme they chose for THIS month...So I'll keep ordering it online, if that's what I have to do. Because ever since 2001, it's the only calendar I've actually used. It hangs in my bedroom near the door and the light, so it catches all our family birthday, holidays and gotta-be-there's. If you try one, you'll be hooked. Never thought I'd ever get hooked on a CALENDAR, but it is what it is.

I buy this calendar EVERY year for my daughter. It helps her keep track of family activities, and with three boys and all their games, practices, school activities, etc. she needs somewhere she can jot down the info and keep them all organized. Calendar has five columns so every person has their space. She'd like another column for anniversary and birthday entries but has worked that info in as well. I've been buying this one since 1998, it's the best!

Being a frantic and mostly disorganised working mother of two littlies, this calendar is the only thing that keeps me from slipping into the abyss of maternal insanity. Oh, and the cool stickers mean that I can revisit my OWN infancy and stick them all over the show, provided that my sons don't get hold of them in their secret hiding place!
I own the year planner too! That's how much of a fan I am.
Highly recommended!
