This market-leading text has received wide acclaim for providing an applied, practical, and student-oriented approach to educational psychology. Psychology Applied to Teaching takes complex psychological theories and demonstrates how they apply to the everyday experiences of in-service teachers. The Twelfth Edition combines fresh concepts and contemporary research with long-standing theory and applications to create a textbook that addresses the needs of today's teachers and students. This new edition also reflects the Houghton Mifflin Education mission to help bridge the gap from preservice to practice. To that end, several of the program's features foster in students an appreciation of reflection. The first and last chapters discuss the concept and importance of reflective teaching; by providing Pause & Reflect and Journal Entry opportunities throughout the text prompt active reflection; and a new feature, Revealing & Challenging Assumptions, offers aspiring teachers opportunities to confront and reflect on problematic assumptions about teaching and learning.

I find this text to be a great resource for teachers. The text offers several developmental theories as applied to learners. The text also offers real life examples to study. You need a passcode (password) to be able to view the on-line videos. If one does not come with the text, a passcode can be purchased on-line from the mfg.(just under $30 and instant access) Also in the text are some great resources for material. More emphasis is placed on elementary and adolescence, with good reason since that is when most developmental stages occur. However, those areas help with understanding the secondary level of education. The text strictly looks at individual development and leaves out any influences due to group dynamics.

This book was the required text for a class I was taking in grad school and it was seriously the most interesting book I've ever read. I can honestly say I read every page. If this is an assigned book for your class be thankful because I think this is as good as it gets in terms of textbooks. Also since it wasn't a hardback it was easy to throw in my gym bag and take to the beach.

My book was delivered really fast but there is considerable water damage and missing pages. The seller included some study guides they had written themselves which was nice though. But still, when I order a book in "good" condition I don't expect water damage and missing pages that I have to read for class. If I had ordered this book for pleasure reading I would be severely disappointed.

When I am done with it I plan on making paper airplanes, setting them on fire and throwing them out my 35th floor apartment building all the while screaming on the way down "WE'RE HIT, WE ARE GOING DOOOOWWWWWWWM!!!!!"

Oh yeah, it works fine for a book

I was very impressed on how well the book was packaged and happy because the post office ripped the envelope but thank goodness the book was double packaged and no damage was done. Book was in excellent condition!

The book was required for a class and I found that it was not only useful in the class but was applicable in my own classroom.
