Coincidences in the Bible and in Biblical Hebrew Paperback – February 26, 2007

There is a newer edition of this item:

Unexplainable coincidences abound in the Bible and in biblical Hebrew. For example, the Hebrew words for "ear" and "balance" are derived from the same philological root. But it was only toward the end of the nineteenth century that scientists discovered that the human body's balancing mechanism resides in the ear. Coincidences in the Bible and in biblical Hebrew details scores of such incidents, including:

  • Words in Hebrew that show intent to convey a message
  • Coincidences in the Hebrew language that show intent to convey hidden information, and occasionally information that could not be expected to be known in biblical times
  • Passages in the Bible that convey or assume information or knowledge unlikely to have been known in biblical times
  • Other coincidences from Jewish tradition or Jewish history

Author Haim Shore discusses two types of coincidences-those that can be considered just that, and others that are subject to rigorous statistical analysis. Altogether, nineteen analyses have been conducted with highly significant results. Simple plots that accompany the analyses clarify their meanings and implications so that no prior statistical know-how is required.

This excellently researched & written book opens up new vistas of proof of divine authorship in the Bible and the Hebrew language itself. There is a wealth of discovery that provokes the intellect to further investigation, the soul to greater confidence, the heart to deeper devotion, the hands to stronger service. This is an essential book for these technologically advanced days.

I recognize this book isn't for everyone. But if you're like me and enjoy math, Hebrew, and the Bible, It's a fascinating read.

I like this book, but it was a little hard for me to read. I enjoyed reading about all the "coincidences" of biblical Hebrew. I am not a Hebrew scholar, but I do enjoy looking in the Strong's Concordance and/or reading the interlinear Bible to see what hidden meanings are not seen in our English translations. It is not written from a religious perspective, and the author explains why. And that fact may help his objectivity in proving that there is something beyond human about Biblical Hebrew. But for people who think that Hebrew is God's language, and that it is the language we will be speaking in the coming kingdom, this book shed's light on why it is truly inspired by God. Only Hebrew is deep enough, wide enough, transcendent enough to qualify as the language of God.

Awesome, how could anyone be sceptic about God after all the evidence that was once thought to be a coincidence.

A thought provoking book. Seems to have an unnecessary section at the beginning but the rest reveals the impossibility that human beings could have written the Torah.
