Mary-Beth Brophy grew up in northern New Jersey and relocated to Southern California at 18. She has a PhD in creative writing from the University of St. Andrews and is a published Kerouac scholar. A longtime Hollywood resident, she has a passion for local history and is the former owner of a walking tour company specializing the mysteries and scandals in Old Hollywood. Her new novel, Mayor of Hollywood, combines her passion for history and her love of crime fiction. It earned an honorable mention in the 2013 Beach Book Festival, General Fiction category.

I'm a big fan of coming of age books. This book sucked me right in! I loved the main character Angie and I'm a huge baseball fan so it was a win/win for me. I found myself wanting to skip ahead to see what happened next. Always a good sign for me! This was a nice easy read and I'd like to see more books from this author!

Last Stop Before Home is a must read. Brophy makes the characters jump off the page and come alive, and the plot is engaging...once I started reading, I couldn't put it down! Perhaps one of the best books I've read in a while. A soon-to-be-best seller for sure.
