Has your child lived before?

In this fascinating, controversial, and groundbreaking book, Carol Bowman reveals overwhelming evidence of past life memories in children.  Not only are such experiences real, they are far more common than most people realize.

Bowman's extraordinary investigation was sparked when her young son, Chase, described his own past-life death on a Civil War battlefield--an account so accurate it was authenticated by an expert historian.  Even more astonishing, Chase's chronic eczema and phobia of loud noises completely disappeared after he had the memory.

Inspired by Chase's dramatic healing, Bowman compiled dozens of cases and wrote this comprehensive study to explain how very young children remember their past lives, spontaneously and naturally.  In
Children's Past Lives, she tells how to distinguish between a true past life memory and a fantasy, offers practical advice to parents on how to respond to a past life memory, and shows how to foster the spiritual and healing benefits of these experiences.

Perhaps the most moving, convincing, and best-documented evidence yet for life after death,
Children's Past Lives will stand alongside the classics of Betty J. Eadie, Raymond Moody, and Brian Weiss in its power to comfort, uplift, and transform our thinking about life after death

"An outstanding and courageous book...truly important because children are trying to tell us about their past lives and we must not remain deaf."

Carol Bowman begins by relating the experiences she had with her own young son, who was hysterically afraid of loud noises, to introduce the reader to typical experiences that can happen before children are born, but to which they are reacting in this life.
The primary focus of this book is on helping children to overcome their phobias, especially when traditional psychotherapy fails to uncover a cause or solution. The book is aimed both toward parents of children with phobias, and also just toward parents generally.
The only reason I am giving the book four stars, instead of five, is that I was already a believer in reincarnation and was looking for a book relating many, many cases of reincarnation.
While the book does present a reasonable number of cases, these are not the books primary focus. The primary focus is toward parents who may never before have considered the possiblility of reincarnation. The book spends a great deal of time discussing research by other eminent researchers (an EXCELLENT summary, by the way, for further reading), and giving guidelines toward how to tell the difference between which memories may be from past lives, vs. made-up fanatasies on the part of the child. If you are a parent, and your child has any unexplained exceptional talents, odd behaviors, or phobias, this book is for you. If, like me, you already believe in reincarnation, and you are looking for more actual cases to read about, I suggest you skip this book and go directly to Carols second book, Return From Heaven, which is even better than this excellent book (and also includes her experiences with her own children).
Carol is perhaps the worlds current leading expert on this subject.
Anyone looking for this book on the British Amazon site, and finding limited availability, will find the book READILY available from the American site.

Truth or myth. My husband died recently and I have been reading alot about reincarnation. This book appealed to me because I have often wondered about family and friends coming back to live another life.

I have been a christian most of my life, I was saved at the age of 12. I never really wondered until after my children were born. Although most Christians make fun of reincarnation I have found that it has increased my faith in God and Jesus and helped me to better understand His word.

My Uncle had been like a father to me, he and my aunt were always there for me. My father never worked a day if he could help it. My mother was chronically depressed. We lived with this Aunt and Uncle most of my childhood.

In 1973 my uncle died at 53 of heart failure. I had 2 children by then and did not want any more. Surprisingly, even though I was on the pill, I got pregnant at the end of 1975. In April of 1976 I gave birth to a little girl.

This child has been there for me at every trouble I have had, esspecially the death of my husband. She has been my rock and my staunch ally throughout all of her life. If I have a need she is there. My other children are very like her, in that I only have to ask and they are there for me. All are very supportive. But she seems to find my needs before I do.

But when she was small, only 2 years old, she would cry every time I mentioned my Uncle's name, and when we went to the cemetary she became very upset. I wish I had read this book at that time. I would have asked her questions.

When I ask her now she remembers crying, she says she felt at that time that she knew him. Now she is 27 and says she doesn't feel like that now.

This book opens up alot of questions and I found it an amazing record that is very well written. If you are interested in this phenomona I highly recommend this book.

With so many books I have yet to catch up on (and I'm a slow reader since I like to take notes as well as "re-reading" parts of a section to make sure I didn't "misread" or overlook details nowadays because of a project I'm working on), I hesitated in starting this one -- given some of the negative reviews that seemed to be fairly stated.

I am glad I gave in to my intuition and checked it out from the library to get a glimpse first. I am aware that Amazon allows sampling of a few pages on some books but sampling sections that interest me is important.

After reading chapter 4 (The Moment of Death), I decided to buy the hard-cover version of the book. It is "reference-quality" on my library, as there were so many interesting cases that I know I need to refer back to.

In the book, there are cases that corroborated the following:

* At least some spirits pick their parents BEFORE the actual act of conception (The Little Red Car)
* The process of reincarnation can be influenced (Family Returns)
* The Xenoglossy case of twin baby boys that was mentioned in Dr. Brian Weiss's radio interview (p.184)

The other cases that particularly fascinate me are:

* Sam's Inclinations towards the Nazis
* Michael's Art Skills
* Billy and the Toyota Dealership p.199
* Breeched Birth
* Hello, I Love You. Goodbye.

Chapter 14 is a much easier read about the subject of adults and their views on reincarnation. Most other books go too much into details and this one just gives you a good amount without putting you to sleep. In addition, to support her statements, footnote references are provided if you need more details on your own.

I left it at 4 stars due to the way how the stories of each case not being presented "in full," but rather, on an as-needed for the chapter basis. Personally I would prefer the cases fully presented one at a time (perhaps in an appendix) and the author referenced it by "paragraph numbering," or something to that effect. This would make it a little easier to understand the total picture of each case.

Personally I think an index for this book would have been appropriate. I had a hard time looking up specific case details discussed (e.g. xenoglossy) since the Table of Contents does not detail case titles.

Also, I think that this may actually reach an even wider audience if the title included wording to the effect of "Healing Children's Phobias & Nightmares through an Understanding of their Past Lives." I admit that it is a bit long for a book title, but imagine how many more children would benefit from parents that have this kind of insight -- given this day and age when people tend to search by book titles using computers. Even those who choose not to believe in reincarnation, the word "healing" should at least prompt those loving, concerned, and open-minded parents' to look at this book and the possible healing benefit on mysterious phobias and nightmares. Perhaps the tragedy of one of the cases where a woman (Joan) had to "live" through over 30 years of her life haunted by the same nightmares can be spared of others.

Good book -- a must read if you are already convinced of reincarnation.

For those who are first readers on reincarnation or you are interested in it, this book is particularly important to understand
Why we, adults may never experience, what children can...
Can not give any spoilers.... Literature worthwhile reading if you consider yourself open minded
I found it quite refreshing...
Different points of view shouldn’t never stop us to explore

This book has a very "American" style of storytelling -entertainingly written and easy to read. The references and recommended books provide a good starting point for learning about regression. I would certainly recommend it.

At last a book that is not interested in data and statistics (though it has plenty) but is more interested in the usefulness of the phenomena whether it is 'real' or not. Healing is at the forefront of this book and it has already helped me help others to have happier lives. Most importantly, the children AND the adults have benefitted. Grateful!

"Never theorize until you have all the facts. Or, you will twist the facts to suit your theories rather than form theories based on the facts." – Sherlock Holmes

The lines above succinctly describe how scientists form theories after thorough research. And Carol Bowman's brilliant book highlights the same with carefully gathered statistics and data on thousands of spontaneous past life memories in very young children.

Unfortunately, many people, including conventional psychologists and well-learned scientists, still discredit past lives even when the evidence is overwhelmingly strong.

So if your mind has just been exposed to this astonishing phenomenon, please read this book and educate yourself.

Ignorance is never sexy.

It wasn't during Galileo's time when the Church believed the Earth was at the center of the Universe, and it definitely isn't now.
