Townsfolk called him devil. For dark and enigmatic Julian, Earl of Ravenwood, was a man with a legendary temper and a first wife whose mysterious death would not be forgotten. Some said the beautiful Lady Ravenwood had drowned herself in the black, murky waters of Ravenwood Pond. Others whispered of foul play and the devil's wrath.

Now country-bred Sophy Dorring is about to become Ravenwood's new bride. Drawn to his masculine strength and the glitter of desire that burned in his emerald eyes, the tawny-haired lass had her own reasons for agreeing to a marriage of convenience. One was vengeance, and in its pursuit she would entangle Julian in a blackmail plot, a duel at dawn, and a dangerous masquerade. The other reason was dearer to her heart, but just as wild a quest: Sophy Dorring intended to teach the devil to love again.

I knew that the book will follow a pattern but I still loved every page. Whichever name she uses, Jayne/Amanda always delivers an outstanding story.

This was a slow start for me, but by the time I finished I honestly loved it so much that I cannot remember why it seemed slow in the beginning. Maybe it was the conditions that Sophy put down before the marriage - it seemed like they got in the way of the lust and the romance. I understand how badly though Sophy who had always loved Julian, was fearful of giving her heart too soon. The Earl to had so many reasons to guard against his heart, with a wild witch of a now dead first wife. So many men that are cuckhold the way Julian was can really be so scarred that they can never feel emotion again. Fortunately Julian very slowly eventually found himself captivated by Sophy. She was nothing like Elizabeth. She was first of all so honest and and thankfully Julian seemed to realize he could always trust her. She did set him on a merry chase though with her wild independent ideas - even to fight a duel in his honor. There were so many interesting conversations between these two - it was one of the best parts of the book - how they dealt with each other was amusing, loving and finally by the end very romantic.

I have read four times this story throughout the years and it never makes me bored or I try to skip a chapter I love everything about it. I personally recommend this book to romantic people like my self I believe this was my first book on the area of romance and since then is all I really enjoy to read. I would to you to know that I find all her books fascinating where it does not luck romance mystery and intrigued.

Seduction was a quintessential Amanda Quick novel with all that good stuff that Amanda is so well known for.....great characters, lots of intrigue, lusty sex scenes and laugh out loud humor. Her characters are so much fun to get to know. As the heroine, Sophy is just wonderful, quirky and smart. Julian has all the great male qualities we come to expect...along with a good dose of stubbornness. I didn't want this story to end. It was everything I had hoped. Now I am off to get me some more Amanda Quick novels to enjoy.

This author has written several books highlighting strong women characters and this one is no different. This is the story of a country girl who is encouraged to marry a wealthy Earl. She is not delighted with the offer of marriage and after several encounters she agrees, the story is what happens after that!

This book is a bit predictable. The heroine has been in love with the hero since in her late teens but the suicide of her younger sister who was seduced and left with child sets the tone for the title. Sophy and Julian barter for a marriage but she wants time to get to know him and he wants his husband's priviledges and an heir. She tries to untangle the lies and inuendos surrounding her predecessor"s death -against his wishes- while he is embarking on a determined seduction- that she distrusts. When two strong wills clash there always seem to be fireworks created and this story is no different. It is a fun read; the characters are well thought out, behave consistent with their intended personalities, and the consequences occur in a time appropriate fashion. Sophy is her signature smart, independent female and Julian is the writer's quintessential flawed but trustworthy male. This work is a fun read with all"s well that end's well.

I put this book on my kindle even though I have the paper back. It pulled me in on the first chapter and couldn't put it down. Whenever I feel the need for a perfect love story with lots of humor I go back to this book.

I usually love reading Quick's books, but this one was a tough one to get through. I love a strong willed leading lady, however I feel that this one, Sophy, was a bit too much to handle (as well as Julian's character). It has plenty of barbs and battles of the wills, but that doesn't always make it a good read.

I will say though that I really enjoyed how it ended even if it was a rough road to get there.

I had reviewed this CD via my local library and liked it. Thus I decided to contact Amzon.ca and see about purchasing it. I am a senior citizen and not as computer savvy as I would like. But you made the steps to buying this CD easy to follow and offered help whenever I needed it. Again I thank you. I am at this time looking to purchase - "Hush" by Karen Robards.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favourite Amanda Quick

Julian the Earl of Ravenswood is outraged when unremarkable neighbour Sophie turns down his offer of marriage. Believing she should be grateful for the offer, Julian is appalled when Sophie states her conditions of marriage, including the freedom to read feminist books.

As with all Amanda Quick books there is humour, romance and a mystery, all beautifully told. What I really liked about 'Seduction' was the evolution of the relationship between Julian and Sophie from a business arrangement, to disillusionment to something more. I also liked the fact that heroine was interesting because of her personality rather than her looks.

The side characters were also good including a gay couple and Sophie's fiesty friends. The sex scenes are steamy and serve a purpose in the storyline. Excellent book.

4.0 out of 5 stars An early Amanda Quick novel
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 30, 2018
I believe that this is one of the earliest books by Jayne Anne Krentz writing as Amanda Quick. I was lucky to find a book by her in my local library about a year ago, and I was hooked. I found myself wondering how I had not discovered her before, since these books have been written over a period of about thirty years!

'Seduction' is a step back in time for me, as I have read several of Amanda Quick's more recent novels. But I was pleased to discover that it had the same style and flow, and the characters were well defined. I found the hero and heroine, Julian and Sophy, very likeable, and cared enough (as others have said) about other subsidiary characters to wish to know more about them. The plot is a little different, as is usual in an Amanda Quick novel, but I was a little disappointed that Sophy seemed to have capitulated so completely.

I would definitely recommend Ms Quick, and this novel. I am pleased to still have many more of her books to read.
