I took a behavior analysis class and this was the text book. I think all text books and self help books should be like this, because it uses repitition to make sure you know the content. I would recommend this book for beginners of learning behavior analysis. This book and the class I took was amazing.

The only problem I had was when I ordered it from Amazon, they said I would get the dvds and other materials. I never got the DVD part of it.

Amazingly simple explanations and great progressions. Nothing overwhelming for the new students. The programmed reading is so helpful and the review quizzes after each chapter really make sure you know the material. I have many books on Behavior Analysis and for learning the basics you will not find a better resource. Not for the advanced students but I recommend it for therapists young in the field. Easy reading and so thorough.

I bought this text book because it was required for my graduate course in advanced principles of applied behavior analysis. This book was very easy to understand. I really liked the programmed reading sections, this assisted me with learning terms and committing them to memory. It reminded me of a guided reading exercise. There is a lot of repetitive information in this text, but I liked it because it was helpful in remembering key points.

This book is much better than I expected! At first I didn't like that the author seemed t repeat points a lot. However, I found that the way he repeats it is actually awesome. He says it different every time and really helps to understand/remember important info. There's also lots of case-studies and examples, which I love. This actually reads quite quickly! And there's loads of study help in the book.

This is the worst textbook I've read in my college career

First of all, the website for this book appears to have been made in the 90's. You can't just choose what chapter you want to view any day. You pick one the first day then work your way through the chapters. If your professor assigns Ch. 6 one week then Ch. 8 the next week, you will need to click through Ch. 7 and answer everything correctly. To get around this you need to actually email the author so he can reset your account's progress. Are you kidding me?!

As for the book itself, while my class was going through it, my professor had to stop at multiple points and say "Actually, what he has written here is incorrect." The author also apparently thinks he's doing the world a favor with his teaching style, but it's grating, exhausting, and let's face it - this is one of four or five, maybe even six classes that a student may be taking. If your book isn't clear and concise, and if the website doesn't allow the student to do exactly what they need to do, you have failed as an author.

I had to buy this book for an online class. I am sure the way the book is written is supposed to be cutting edge, but I found the book format (which provides a small amount of information then asks questions) to be extremely irritating. That, coupled with the online portion, in which there are these excruciatingly long and boring tests that demand verbatim recitation and accurate spelling instead of teaching concepts bothered me so much that It took me a while to get over my annoyance to figure out how to learn using this method. The rationale is that this type of format helps students to do better on tests. I felt like a lab rat. That said, as a result of taking the class, I feel I know more about behavior modification and behavior studies, which I find to be interesting..
