This book is both beautiful, moving, and hilarious! The author does an amazing job of replicating some of the great Pre-Raphaelite master pieces, with cats instead of human figures. But was really amazes me, is that Herbert captures the same expressions on the cats as are on the human subjects in the original works! In the back of this book, Herbert has small black-and-white prints of the original art works, but to really appreciate her book you have to view larger, full color versions. I highly recommend this book!

As I looked through this book it occurred to me that this book would be an excellent addition to a child's library. Not only would one have the fun of looking at cats in costume, but the book could be used as an art lesson. The references in the paintings would open the child's eyes to great artists, mythology and Shakespeare.

Even though I am no longer a child I know that this book will help me learn more about artists and their work and historical and mythological allusions.
