Give Peace A Chance: John and Yoko's Bed-In For Peace

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of the anthem "Give Peace A Chance."  Go behind the scenes with powerful images, many never seen before, of the Montreal Bed-In For Peace, May 26 to June 1, 1969.  The only photographer to be present the entire eight days, Life photographer Gerry Deiter captured in intimate detail the celebrities, the musicians and the fans who  dropped by.  Recollections by key people who spent time with John and Yoko provide a rare glimpse into what became a moment in history. Read excerpts from the interview that Life never ran and the interesting back story of why many of the photos were never published.

This book is a wonderful photo (and written) documentary of a seminal event in the anti-war movement of the sixties. It provides glimpses of and insights into the people and events surrounding the great week-long sleep-in for peace that John Lennon and Yoko Ono did in Toronto in 1969. The photographer was present for the entire event and documented many of the special moments that occurred there. Besides John and Yoko, there are photos of Tommy Smothers, Tim Leary, producers, sound engineers, groupies and more. Just buy the book. I paid one cent plus $3.99 for shipping. It is worth $100 easily, for its historical significance if nothing else.
