4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 377 ratings

The eleventh title in this best-selling series brings Hoole to kingship and the legends to fulfilment signaling a return to the adventures of Coryn, Soren and the Band.

In this final book of the Legends trilogy Hoole reclaims the thrown of his father and goes on to wage a war against the forces of chaos, greed and oppression led by the powerful warlord-tyrants. Grank, the first collier, uses his skills with fire and metals to forge weapons for battle. With great trepidation Hoole uses the power of the Ember in the final, decisive battle and wins. At the dawn of a new ear of peace, Hoole searches for the ideal place to establish not a kingdom but an order of free owls and finds the Great Tree. (continued)

Hi Readers! Thanks for coming by my author page. I've written all sorts of books - from fantasy about animals to books about science and historical fiction. I’m in that historical fiction zone now with my new series Tangled in Time. The Portal is the first book and it explores what happens when a girl, Rose Ashley, feels trapped in her own time. Newly orphaned she is sent live with her slightly weird grandmother whom she has never met, in a new city and a new school where she encounters three bullies known as The Mean Queens. But shortly she will tumble through time and find herself in the 16th century in the service of Princess Elizabeth. I always wondered when I wrote the Royal Diaries, Elizabeth the Red Rose of Tudor what it would be like to serve royalty rather than to be royalty. This led to Tangled In Time, my first time travel series.

So good and yet sooooo gory. I loved the whole ember thing and the sad Letta story. This has to be one of my favorite book series ever.

My son started out reading this series but - being a very avid reader myself - I read the first book in this series to 'check out' what he was reading. I got 'hooked'. Super story line and very interesting books. Kathryn Lasky is a fabulous writer.

I loved the highs and lows in the story. It kept me captivated to the end. It was a great read and I'm looking forward to the next book.

It's a great book for some readers and a memorable story with amazingly developed characters. Though some things need more explaining like how hagsfiends can actually assist though in reality their origin of being animal fuisions is physically impossible rendering these species defunct also how did the humans or 'others' go extinct? Anyways it's a great book for an even greater price.

My son is 12 and HATES to read. He started the 7th grade off with very poor reading scores. He found several books of this series in the school library and loves them. He has now read the first 5 and working on the 6th book. I bought the entire series for him since he loves it so much. I highly recommend these. They have difficult words in them that make the reader sound out syllables and sounds. These have helped him so much! I am so thankful. My daughter reads Lasky's "Wolves of the Beyond" series as well. Great author!!

My 11 year old grandson is a ferocious reader, and he's been reading this Guardian series. He was so happy to get 2 more installments in the series for his recent birthday, and read them very fast. I'll have to find more books for Christmas. Thanks Amazon!

We have the entire set of Guardian's of Ga'Hoole books now. My grandson loves them . I read them to him and now he reads them on his own. We wish there were more. I am writing this after we purchased all of the series. Next we purchashed Wolves of the Beyond which is by the same author(Kathryn Lasky). They are all excellent. Can't say enough about them. We are looking foreward to reading more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book!
Reviewed in Canada on February 18, 2017
This book and the two before it were exceptionally great with a deep story line and very developed characters. The legends sub series may be sad at times, but it also had characters that you can connect to. I found my self happy when they were happy, and sad when they were sad. I am very sad that this sub series is over, as I really enjoyed it. Even more so then the others before it! I highly recommend this book to anyone, young or old!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr spannend und ein sehr sympathischer Hoole
Reviewed in Germany on November 20, 2014
