About the author
Hi Readers! Thanks for coming by my author page. I've written all sorts of books - from fantasy about animals to books about science and historical fiction. I’m in that historical fiction zone now with my new series Tangled in Time. The Portal is the first book and it explores what happens when a girl, Rose Ashley, feels trapped in her own time. Newly orphaned she is sent live with her slightly weird grandmother whom she has never met, in a new city and a new school where she encounters three bullies known as The Mean Queens. But shortly she will tumble through time and find herself in the 16th century in the service of Princess Elizabeth. I always wondered when I wrote the Royal Diaries, Elizabeth the Red Rose of Tudor what it would be like to serve royalty rather than to be royalty. This led to Tangled In Time, my first time travel series.

It is a time long ago in the Northern Kindoms, which were then known as the kingdoms of the Nyrthgar. On the throne are good King Hrath and Queen Siv. But darkness lurks. Hagsfiends(creatures that are half crow and half owl) lurk in the dark parts of the Nyrthgar, hoping to rule it one day.
This is the story of Grank, a male spotted owl who is a good friend of the king and queen. Grank like Coryn, has firesight. Amazed by this wonderful talent he posses, Grank leaves the safe kingdoms of the Nyrthgar and heads to the Beyond to learn more about fire and firesight. He meets a wolf named Fengo, who helps him in work and the study of fire. Grank learns to catch bonke cols and other important things. But even though he sees it through the flames, the hagsfiends are training and prepairing for battle. In a great battle, Hrath is killed and Siv is forced to flee with one of her servants and egg. The hagsfiends take over the Ice Palace where the king and queen ruled. Grank returns to find Siv and take her to safety. Grank finds her but is almost immediatly attacked by hagsfiends. He takes Siv's egg and quickly flees. Siv is trapped and is greatly wounded but survives. Although she survives she does not see her chick grow up. It is a remarkable tale of love and friendship. It is the story of Grank.
The book is astonishing and should be read
If you have seen the movie and don't know if they should read the series, then I have the answer. The movie doesn't cover much in the series and it mixes a couple things so I recommend that you read the series and reside if the movie really does follow the series well.
