It seems as if the printers were trying to include as many words as possible on each page. I had to stretch open the book to read in the margins toward the spine. Some of the words are completely left off the end of the lines toward the outside edges. Otherwise, I do always enjoy Agatha Christie!

Particularly enjoyable to viewers of Poirot series as origins of many scripts are here. Some story lines are repetitive or similar to other detective tropes.

Can’t go wrong with Poirot if you’re looking for a little bit of whodunnit fun. Enjoyable read, much better than getting stuck on YouTube for hours on end.

Quick reads and always well written. Never knew Ms. Christie did these short tales. Delightful just at bedtime. Enjoy these reads.

Hard to read as the 91 pages have extremely small print type size.
I have readers at 200 and find it hard to read. Bought 350s in order to read this print size. Definitely not printed as a normal book.

I try to read all Poirot books. I still have a few to go. I want to read more of Agatha Christie books.

After writing two novels about Hercule Poirot in 1920 and 1923, her editor suggested that Christie write several Poirot short stories to be serialized in Sketch magazine in 1923 and 1924. Eleven stories were then published as a single volume in the UK in 1924. The following year fourteen stories were serialized in the US and then published as a book in 1925. This publication includes all fourteen stories, although in a different order. However, the Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings was firmly established with these short stories.

Christie's sleuth writing skills are highlited in these brief detective vignettes, establishing well Poirot's popular acceptance, much to Christie's eventual chagrin because fans expected additional installments long after she had grown tired of creating Poirot sequels.

Christie's fans will find here original sources for many of the famous BBC Poirot series. Those familiar with the TV series will find these stories served as inspiration to the TV productions but with shorter, more focused storylines. However, Christie's charm shines through with her clever and trademark mystery plotlines, delighting audiences for generations.

This volume works well for fast escape reads one story at a time, or binge readers will enjoy the wide variety from taking in all these mysteries at one time. I was not disappointed with any of the stories, other than perhaps wishing some were longer and more developed.

Although Audible's narration is available, when I purchased both Kindle and Audible items, they were not directly linked.

This volume is an essential addition to both the Poirot collection and an entertaining addition to any Agatha Christie personal library.

I have been reading Agatha Christie for over 60 years. While the short stories are great, the best books are 3 standouts. Witness for the Prosecution, Murder on the Orient Express and the Murder of Roger Akroyd. Oh, we can't forget And Then There Were None. Try any of these books and you will be hooked.

Excellent stories, characters that come to life. The well known star of the show who wraps it all up and explains why. All the things you expect from previous ratings.

1.0 out of 5 stars Font size. Unacceptable

The font size is a joke. Probably to save 10 pages of paper, the font size is... 6 or 8? Illegible. Don't buy that book.

Ashes
5.0 out of 5 stars Short story collection
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 4, 2024
If like me your wary of approaching a full novel or don't have the time to absorb the characterisations and depth of such a book. This short story collection is a a great way to introduce you to the work of one of our greatest crime writers.

Despite an average of about 10 pages Christie has the knack of beginning a tale developing it and still supplying us with a plausible ending. Subjects covered include murder and robbery but also spys.

What I also enjoyed that due to the at times complex nature of the plots invariably a re-read was required so I could close my mouth after a shocking ending. Not always do you see it coming, the twists are invariably ingenious.

Hard to pick a favourite. Let's just say I enjoyed them all. Do buy the book. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great from the greatest crime writer of all time
Reviewed in the Netherlands on April 16, 2023
No wonder why Agatha Christie is considered one of the greatest writers of all time!

11 stories, 11 cases, 11 mysteries cleverly written in a way that makes you guess to be surprised and amazed at the end. It’s so impressive how she is able to write stories in a way that keeps you guessing and end up wrong m, no matter how right you think you are.

A book very hard to put down once you started.
