Straight Science? Homosexuality, Evolution and Adaptation
Purchase options and add-ons
A genetic basis for homosexuality has been all but proved, yet Darwinism, the most widely accepted evolutionary theory, emphasises successful reproduction. How do we explain a lifetime preference for non-reproductive sex?
Whilst social constructionism offers explanations in terms of social learning and cultural preferences, the body of evidence for a genetic predisposition to homosexuality grows. Social learning argues that homosexual sex is merely misdirected and therefore futile, but far from dying out it continues through the ages and is found in different cultures.
What if there was an evolutionary advantage to homosexuality? Straight Science? Homosexuality, Evolution and Adaptation dares to ask such questions.

Now, regarding the review:
There has been a trend from Social constructivists to try to stop science and keep people in blind faith, denying us the right to know.
This is the best approach I have encountered towards homosexuality and im glad that its from an open minded heterosexual scientist because i have seen many bogus explanations saying that its just a taste like preferring chocolates from candies, well thats inconsiderate to the many homosexual men that have tried to change their orientation. These constructivists claim to be defending homosexuals but with friends like that you need no enemies, it must be a relief to know that its not your fault to be homosexual and that it has a place on nature even if an awkward one. We now know that there are biological constrains that oblige us to deal with human behaviour in a deeper way. The social reductionists premise is that because nothing relevant is programmed or fixed then we can impose the worst demands to people in an dystopic lifestyle and they will adapt, "theres no human nature" they say, thats why we can lose our humanity without concerns about individuals.
Sociobiology shows us that there are biological predispositions and that we should learn to deal with them and respect them because our millennia old genes many times know better than our short term vision, put that approach into homosexuality and you have this beautiful book.
Is homosexuality an adaptive trait or the byproduct of something like that?
