Purchase options and add-ons

A stern, rock-hard man stood before Abaigeal Sullivan. No sign of the boy whose playful teases had once turned to stolen kisses and something much, much more. Why, in all the years Joshua Wheaton had been away, had he never made contact, acknowledged her astounding news—that she carried his child?

Abby no longer trusted any man, but could she believe Joshua when he claimed he only ever meant to act honorably toward her? There was no doubt he wanted to get closer to her and the son that they had created together.

I enjoy this story and hope to enjoy it for years too come. It was well written and the story really moves.

A devious, uninterested mine boss and owner had no qualms about who the elite were verus the poor struggling people who were doing all the work for him to become rich at their expense. When Joshua returned home thinking his past love had married someone else, he was more interested in bettering the conditions in the mines. He learned the hard way about how his father had betrayed him while he was gone and the secret that Abby held from him. I am looking forward to reading the next book about Helena and Brendan.

Too predictable to the point of boredom. Didn't finish it.

RT rated this story with 3 stars, meaning it's a mediocre story. The reviewer of RT stated the story had likable characters but ended abruptly, which was weak and inconsistent in nature to the H & H as well as the plot. I agree for the most part. In the beginning I liked both the H & H. As time went on, Abby tended to show little to no sympathy for Josh, even after she learned the ten-year-old troubles between them were brought on by his manipulative father and wasn't his fault. Josh was likable in the beginning, but he ended up being a wishy-washy, wimpy hero, seldom defending himself against Abby's accusations. Abby was also weak in disciplining their equally unsympathic son, Daniel. It struck me that perhaps the author was either under pressure to finish or running out of word count, and that's why Abby and Daniel's sudden attitude turnaround made the ending abrupt. This story also lacked color. Little to no description of their surroundings or the clever similes typical of historicals, making it difficult to visualize the world they lived in. I have to say, however, these characters were never lost for words, Abby especially.
