Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2008
First, there is a new edition with a blue cover, you should buy that one instead (I bought the new one; I don't know why the Amazon system brought this one to review). I've been using this book in an undergraduating International Business minor at ESPM, Sao Paulo, Brazil, succesfully for three years now.
This is a good textbook with an introductory but strategic view of the field. STRONG POINTS: The chapters are long, and the professor can dose them according to the level of the students, so that it suits very well MBA - Undergrad mixed classes; you can assign different levels of reading and tasks for each group of students. It is very well written, and it has a really internatinal approach of International Management; many books in this field and in International Business field are, paradoxally, too USA centered, in a way that they are no good even for american students, who should be exposed to an international culture when looking for this kind of courses. It has examples, mini-cases and task assignments, all very uptodate. WEAK POINTS: the data, figures and tables, however are not uptodated: most are from 2000-2001, and that was not fixed in the new edition. The students complain a little about it. The online support with cases and exercises is very weak, and mostly supplied by the author himself, the editor website brings almost anything about it. I hope they fix this situation in the near future, or they may spoil an otherwise very good material.
