Yes, I have a lot of books, and if this is your first visit to my amazon author page, it can be a little overwhelming. If you are new to my work, let me recommend a few titles as good places to start. My major new fantasy trilogy (all finished!) consists of SPINE OF THE DRAGON, VENGEWAR and GODS AND DRAGONS. My newest Dune novel with Brian Herbert is THE HEIR OF CALADAN, end of a new trilogy. I also love my Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series—newest one is DOUBLE-BOOKED— humorous horror/mysteries, which begin with DEATH WARMED OVER. My steampunk fantasy adventures, CLOCKWORK ANGELS, CLOCKWORK LIVES, and CLOCKWORK DESTINY, written with Neil Peart, legendary drummer from Rush, are some of my very favorite novels ever. And my magnum opus, the science fiction epic The Saga of Seven Suns, begins with HIDDEN EMPIRE. After you've tried those, I hope you'll check out some of my other series.

I have written more than 175 books, including 59 national or international bestsellers. I have over 24 million books in print worldwide in thirty languages. I've been nominated for the Nebula Award, Hugo Award, Bram Stoker Award, Shamus Award, and Silver Falchion Award, and I've won the SFX Readers' Choice Award, Golden Duck Award, Scribe Award, and New York Times Notable Book; in 2012 at San Diego Comic Con I received the Faust Grand Master Award for Lifetime Achievement.

I have written numerous bestselling and critically acclaimed novels in the Dune universe with Brian Herbert, as well as Star Wars and X-Files novels. In my original work, I am best known for my Saga of Seven Suns series, the Terra Incognita trilogy, the Dan Shamble, Zombie PI series, and Clockwork Angels and Clockwork Lives with Neil Peart. Along with my wife Rebecca Moesta, I am also the publisher of WordFire Press. Find out more about me at wordfire.com, where you can sign up for my newsletter and get some free fiction.

I'm enjoying the 7 Suns series. I really am. I went in skeptical because of the not-so-nice things some people had to say about Anderson in his work on the Dune prequels. But I'm coming to see he got an unfair rap. The man really is an accomplished writer and a very entertaining story teller.

Sure, Fire and Night is no deeply philosophical novel that deals with the complex interplay of religion, politics, and government. But it never aims to be. What it is, however, is an incredibly entertaining story that moves along quickly. Anderson has managed to advance a large cast of characters without being bogged down in unnecesary exposition. His short chapter style seemed odd at first, but it really fits in excellently with the novel.

Sure, some of the plot is predictable. Take the surprise ending - don't worry, I won't tell what it is. One of the "surprises" was easily predictable, but still no less enjoyable. The other I never saw coming. If it weren't for the "book 6 coming in 2007" message near the front, I would've thought book 5 would be the end of the series. But with the conclusion, it's clear Anderson has much more to write. And I'm highly optimistic about his ability to keep the quality plot moving along, unlike many other epic writers, who begin to flounder after 5 or 6 books in a series. "Saga" is still going strong, and book 5 was an excellent addition. Highly recommended!

Since filing an initial review or two back when this series commenced, I haven't checked in lately with my feelings on the later installments of Anderson's "Saga of Seven Suns" epic. Well, I've still been reading this series (or, more precisely, listening to it) for the past few years and I'm still quite enjoying it. The Saga is big, sweeping space opera at its finest, but without- thankfully- ever becoming too self-consciously "pulpy".

To be clear, we're not quite talking (at least, not yet) "Dune" level quality here, in terms of both complexity and depth, but we are talking good solid storytelling encompassing a variety of worlds and races, peppered with lots of smaller, human-scale storylines revolving around a variety of characters who make it easy to invest our interest and sympathies with them. Making things even more interesting is the happy fact that this latest installment, "Of Fire and Night", doesn't just take the various characters' established storylines further along in a "kind of/sort of" unpredictable fashion, but offers several surprising new directions for them that were completely unforeseen in previous volumes.

One caveat: I still wish the author would give us a little more detail about the workings of the Earth government. We gets lots of great stuff about the corrupt Chairman (and true ruler) of the Earth government going head to head with the figurehead "King" of the same government, but we're not told if there's also some kind of Congress or other lawmaking body somewhere in there, too. Wouldn't they have something to say about the Chairman and King's political battles? Such details would also explain who was running the obstensibly democratic government while the Chairman and King were busy trying to outguess each other's plans.

But enough nitpicking... this continues to be a fun and involving series, and the audiobook versions of the books continue to be produced in an artful and polished fashion, even with the new narrator who came onboard a title or two ago. Keep these books- and audios- coming!

The series has kept me entertained and I do find myself reading and wanting to continue for hours at a time. Have enjoyed the series and recommend to anyone that has read KA or enjoys any of the classic fiction reads. Have not checked into audio however am thinking would be great that way as well.

In a word "WOW". It's been forever since I read a book non-stop like this. If you are reading the review, I am sure you read the preceeding 4 volumes. Chances are you just finished and wondering what other people thought! I will tell you now... keep reading!

All the characters, all the plots, all the mysteries, all the questions are all perfectly intertwined and unravelled in this book. Well, save for a few, which leads into the 6th book.

Honestly, I thought it was going to all end here, but it does continue. And continue it does. In a way that will keep me faithfully waiting for #6.

But, damn... what a satisfying book. Other series of this length that I've read usually tend to drag on... with multiple pages on details of what a blade of grass looks like. But this book keeps the pace going non-stop. A true feat considering the borderline-multiple plot line.

Wow.

Great book. Definitely, a great story. I really love this series.

The Kindle version of the book has some font issues. Most of the time the font is the size that I have it set at. However, there are segments in the book where the font is really small and some place where it is really big. Then it changes back to the standard size.

This is definitely more fantasy than hard science fiction. The story is interesting but science is glossed over on most occasions. Each chapter begins with exposition, making the novel read like the old serialized ones of yore. I enjoyed that aspect but I can see how that might be annoying.

I quite enjoyed this book. Some of the earlier books in the series were a little slow or not much happened. This book however, everything that has been building up from the previous books all starts to come together. Looking forward to reading through 6 and 7 and reading the new series. Read it on my Kindle Paperwhite and the formatting was fine.

I have loved this entire series. Space operas and sagas are fascinating to me and KJA is one of the best in this area! There's plenty of action, which I love, but the characters are very believable. Not once did I say in my mind, "oh, yeah, right." The plot is well developed by this 5th installment and the author simply continues to tighten the noose with increased tension and heartbreaking moments. I recommend the book as well as the series highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far better than book 4

Book 4 was plagued with too many stories revolving around Ildirans that are described as too stupid to be entertaining.
Book 5 shows a lot of actions and describes fantastic new beings and strange constructs that open many new paths for imagination.

1.0 out of 5 stars I made it to the end, of the horror

I continued to hate myself for reading and especially purchasing the 'novels' in this series. The story is predictable; the characters are one dimensional. It was almost insulting - check that, it *was* insulting, verbally offensive, how poorly and written and naieve the characters were, that I found myself rooting for the death of substantially all of then. Some sort of galactic apocalypse that could achieve two goals; give the characters their just reward and end my suffering reading this series.

I must confess that I belive I suffer from some type of OCD / sado masochistic disorder. It became manifest and evident through my continued mental self flagellation in one click purchasing book after book. I hated myself for purchsing the first sequel, and that continued through each subsequent installment.

Do yourself a favour, skip this tripe.
