For years, things have run quite smoothly for Perdita and her organic gardening business. So what if her hair needs a complete overhaul, her sweater has more holes than Swiss cheese, and there's no hope of a boyfriend on the horizon? The last thing Perdita wants is a meddlesome man in her life-but she's about to get one, in the form of her completely infuriating ex-husband, Lucas.

Lucas in disagreeable, curt, arrogant, and smolderingly gorgeous. He's also the new chef at Grantly House, Perdita's number-one customer. Worse, Mr. Grantly has the insane idea of starting a television cooking show that will put Lucas and Perdita together as "The Gourmet and the Gardener."

Now, things are heating up in the kitchen--and elsewhere. With the bright lights blazing and old feelings stirring the pot, it could be a recipe for disaster...or absolute delight.

Dear readers, thank you for visiting my Amazon Page.

I live in the beautiful Cotswold countryside with my family, and I’m a country girl at heart.

I first started writing when my mother gave me a writing kit for Christmas, and once I started I just couldn’t stop. Living Dangerously was my first novel and since then, I haven’t looked back.

Ideas for books are everywhere, and I’m constantly inspired by the people and places around me. From watching TV (yes, it is research) to overhearing conversations, I love how my writing gives me the chance to taste other people’s lives and try all the jobs I’ve never had.

Each of my books explores a different profession or background and my research has helped me bring these to life. I’ve been a porter in an auction house, tried my hand at pottery, refurbished furniture, delved behind the scenes of a dating website, and I’ve even been on a Ray Mears survival course.

I love being a writer; to me there isn’t a more satisfying and pleasing thing to do. I particularly enjoy writing love stories. I believe falling in love is the best thing in the world, and I want all my characters to experience it, and my readers to share their stories.

I love hearing from all my readers on Twitter @KatieFforde or on Facebook at facebook.com/KatieFforde

OK, this isn't going to win the Booker Prize, but I found this book charming and absorbing. It's basically a romance but the main female character (Perdita) is likeable and not sitting around waiting for Prince Charming. I don't normally like romances but this book has much more substance and quality than the average romance.

Heroine Perdita has a life of her own already and is not looking for a man. She has a small organic gardening business and loves what she does even if she's not going to get rich doing it. Perdita's ex-husband Lucas walks back into her life. Perdita and Lucas had been married a number of years ago when Perdita was still in her teens; he left her for another woman and broke her heart. He's the new gourmet chef at a restaurant that she supplies -- she delivers vegetables there everyday. There is the predictable sexual tension between the two (she's attracted sexually but still mad at him), but it's all done so well you don't really care if it's predictable. Being set in an English village added to the charm, as does Perdita's loving relationship with the delightful 80-something "Aunt" Kitty, who has more or less raised her.

This is the first book I've read by this author -- I'm looking forward to reading more and hope they're as good.

A happy romp through a chef’s kitchen and a market gardener’s growing tunnels plus a delightful characterful old lady all add up to delightful love story

Everything Katie Fforde writes turns to gold. She is by far one of the most phenomenal writers of her time. My only complaint is that I wish that Americans would be more aware of this fab author. You will not be disappointed in Ms. Fforde. If u are looking for a sex filled romp, this isn't the book for you.

If you ARE wanting a sweet and fun light and airy comedy then this book is for you. Katie Fforde has wonderfully developed characters, in idyllic settings. Often with a lot of mishaps thrown in the mix!

I always enjoy Katie Fforde's books and this one was no exception. A real life situation, a second time round for marriage, relationships and the characters were very real. The tale with its twists and turns, plus its comical side keeps your nose glued to the story to the very end. Then you sigh and say is that all and immediately start to look for more of Katie Fforde's books.

The book drags a bit, not Katie Ffordes best, the end can easily be predicted very early in the book>

The title gives it away, but this is a first for one of Ms. Fforde's books. How difficult this man is, but they say opposites attract---but also clash. And what a different man he was in his private life.

One of my favourite Katie Fforde books. The main character is strong and independent and I like the setting in the 'tunnels' and the restaurant. Lucas is a great brooding yet kind underneath love interest. Entertaining throughout.

Even though the story itself is unbelievable, it's written in such a fun way- trusting the reader to suspend disbelief- that it becomes an indulgent little fantasy.

This is one of 5 (used) books I have bought, all in excellent condition. I am addicted to this author's books. I have to admit the stories are all similar really, but they are brilliant. I have read loads of them, but I have a list of titles I tick off when purchased. More to go yet.

Though the book arrived in a precarious condition yet after reading the story I forgot my grievance. I love Katie Fforde for her ability to make you laugh. Even though it's a rather simple story, she makes it hilarious and gripping. I enjoyed the book as I'm a fan of romcom. Definitely a must by for those who enjoy hassle free and simple plots.

Another light, bubbly Katie Fforde romance to consume when you feel the need to get away for a weekend. Katie Ffordes characters are people you feel you know but can't remember quite where you met them before.

As usual a well written book by Katie Fforde. Enjoyable but not gripping. The characters were good especially Kitty who knew what she wanted and no one was going to organise her in any way.
