IMO this is the best Amplified version to date [Amplified Topical Reference Bible (2006)]. Bought it because it contains the two readily handy invaluable features that set it far above past versions that I so very often use without having to resort to additional texts: (1) Topical Index, for quick reference and a pretty decent Concordance in locating a verse quickly. For me the only drawback is that the font size is only 8-point, as I approach age 60. Because of my preference for a larger print font size, I struggled with whether to purchase one of the two upcoming releases from Zondervan: (1) AMP Zippered Collection, Large Print Version (12/21/2012) with a 10.5-point font size or (2) AMP Large Print Italian Duo Burgandy/Tan Version (03/15/13) with a 12-point font size. I contacted the publisher, Zondervan, to ask if the Concordance and/or the Topical Index were included in the two upcoming released larger print versions and was told they were not in neither one. Pity, though--I think Zondervan missed it big time--as having at least a Concordance with the larger print new releases would have made it the "ultimate" for me in my treasured/favorite Amplified version without having to choose between features or font size. I ended up opting for the desired features of this AMP Topical Reference Bible over the larger print new releases and will just use some magnifying glasses. Perhaps one day a newer version with come forth with it all. For Amplified die-hards, like myself, overall I am happy with my purchase. The lovely burgandy/tan duo imitation leather cover actually holds up better than the bonded leather and hard cover versions I have had and the gold-guilded page edges that will last for a little while due to excessive use make it a very attracted and beautiful Bible. Best price I found anywhere and it actually arrived 2 days earlier than estimated, even during the Christmas holiday season.

The AMPC is one of the best Bibles for study, and this topical version brings a lot of depth for research. Absolutely one of the best Bibles I own. Amazon is selling this on prime under the impression that it is new, but mine I received was used. It was in good enough condition to not return it, but it was not new. Just an fyi for those buying this Bible through Amazon.

This Bible is perfect. I would say if there is anything I could say needed any improvement the, "Topical Index" has pretty a smaller font, sorry I don't know what point. But, I just had to update my bifocals and it reads fine now. This is an excellent reference Bible, my understanding has grown by leaps and bounds. Also, since this is the Amplified Classic Edition, it has the original, wonderful translation. Joyce Meyer fans.. this is the version she uses... without being, "Pink" or "Purple"...lol. The cover, even though imitation, is soft, and wonderful to hold. This Bible sits open from the beginning... it's not stiff and hard to lay and keep open.
The pages are very thin, I recommend ordering, "Bible-Hi-Glider" highlighters also sold here on Amazon to use if you highlight in your Bible. They have a crayon-like finish, and do not bleed through any pages at all. Just be careful, just like a crayon, sometimes they will leave a blotch...just remove it with your fingernail real quick, or check the end before each use......-Blessings to ALL!!!!!

Sometimes we read a verse for years without truly grasping the depth of what's being said. For example:
Ephesians 3:16-18, New King James : "16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

I love this Amplified version more than the other 4 translations I own here at home. I feel the Amplified really reads in detail what the original scripture was meaning. I've often heard it said that the Hebrew and Greek languages that God's Word was written in are very full of emotion and meaning in ways that our American language does not typically have words to truly translate - This Amplified translation helps so much with that in my opinion. This version also has so many other study tools included that I am just beginning to tap into. What I have immediately appreciated is the referenced scripture addresses placed within the verses themselves. Many other translations will put these address notations to a side column; if it has them at all... these don't always catch my attention. Having passages noted for cross reference right within the passage itself has been really nice and very useful.

Before I only had this translation from my mobile phone's bible app. or from on-line, now I have the actually pages :) - Get This Translation.... you won't be disappointed.

These series of amplified bible texts are growing in popularity. When you have decided that you don't mind the odd word in American speak, the contemporary grammar of the basic NRSV text is better than many, and then there is the way in which the text is 'amplified'. A word glossary in the back summarizes many of these inclusions with three or four thesaurus entries, that try to focus the reader when certain words that are not easy to feel the meaning of; this is admirable. Let me give you an example.
The text of Ephesians 5:14 is translated in dozens of bibles in the same way. You might perhaps think that a 'flashlight' brightens your day, or that you could be forgiven for thinking this when you read some essays, or translations. The amplified text is one of a minority of texts that actually attempts to apply the secret understanding of what Jesus can do for us, and as expounded by great clergymen like the Rev John Wesley. This miraculous light opens our hearts, and allows us to see with a single eye, and to feel the light of Christ remove all of our earthly issues, and to be transformed (ourselves illuminated) into a new person in Him. And thus, the light shines from us and is given to us.
The amplified text often provides an insight into aspects of the bible which you cannot find elsewhere, and which are sometimes contained in the huge texts of study bibles like the Oxford or the Schofield. Again this impresses me. The addition of a concordance enables the user to find and source phrases with ease, and appears to apply to this text in particular (not always the case with generic bibles). You can therefore easily find the two Old Testament precursors of the above Ephesians quotation, and start to unwrap further meanings allied to the 'dawning' aspect of light and life in Christ.
On the down side, these bibles are not the cheapest (which does not sit well with ideals and aspirations alleged by the compilers and printing Foundation(s) of this particular series of Bibles). And furthermore, the paper of this bible does not match the price, or its potential usage.
If you haven't yet tried an Amplified Text bible, then this version is strongly recommended to anyone in Christ Jesus.

have always wanted an amplified bible, but was unfortunately somewhat disappointed by this edition. the substance is as expected, but the presentation leaves much to be desired: the print & font is not easygoing on the eye. i could only get through it as an experienced bible reader as this edition does not mark out quotations, only starts the quotes with capitals, so you might not know when the quote begins and ends. an inexperience reader would find this confusing. as the bible is full of reported quotations it makes this edition somewhat difficult to read easily. the publishers could also introduce sectional headings to break up the text and it would certainly benefit from a 'lighter' and/or thinner text.
as i can spend up to 2 years for an in-depth bible study, next time i shall certainly have a look through the next bible i buy before i buy. as mentioned earlier the substance is commendable, but the print lets this edition down, and i would not recommend it for the novice bible reader, hence only 3 stars.

I bought this Bible about one year ago and have loved it ever since. I have always preferred the amplified version as I find it much easier to read and understand. It comprises the everyday words that you want to be reading.

I love the looks - leather cover that keeps it in good condition, good quality paper that doesn't get damaged if a highlighter is used (and I use that a lot!) and I also found handy to keep its original cardboard box for extra protection.

It has a nice, elegant design and it's just the right size. I am so happy with this version of the Bible that I also bought one for my husband!
