Go! Go! Go!: The Definitive Inside Story of the Iranian Embassy Siege Paperback – International Edition, January 1, 2010

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,039 ratings

In 1980, terrorists seized the Iranian embassy in London, taking everyone inside captive. When one of the hostages was murdered, the Special Air Services of the British Army received their orders: Go! Go! Go!” Seventeen minutes later, five of the six terrorists lay dead, and the last captured. The remaining hostages survived, and no Special Forces man died. This mission catapulted the SAS overnight to worldwide fame. Written with the active involvement of the men who participated, this fascinating work features a host of revelations that will surprise even the most dedicated SAS enthusiast, and interest everyone concerned with terrorism in our dangerous age.

Will Pearson left home aged 15 to join the Royal Navy. Seven years, two world tours and a deep suntan later, he won a scholarship to Ruskin workers’ education college, Oxford. Against the odds, Oriel College then accepted Will to read French. After various careers, Will turned his hand to writing. His military experience and contacts led to a breakthrough book, the best-selling Tornado Down. Its strong sense of story, fast pace and direct, engaging language have since become a trademark style, not least in books under his own name such as the Daily Mail-serialised Death Warrant.

As a ghost-writer, Will tries to catch the unique ‘voice’ and character of his subjects, and has ghosted many more books, including the best-selling Gangs with Ross Kemp. He has also produced and scripted documentaries for Channel 4 and Discovery Channel, and written for The Financial Times, The Daily Mail, The Mirror, Africa Today and many more.

In 2010, Will co-published two new books: 'Go! Go! Go!' with Rusty Firmin, a factual account of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege; and 'Bullet Magnet' by Mick Flynn, CGC, MC & Will Pearson, a searing ghosted biography of Britain's most decorated modern warrior. A Household Cavalry Warrant Officer, Mick has been in the thick of war: Northern Ireland; the Falklands; the Gulf War and two tours of Afghanistan. More recently, Orion Publishing asked Will to write 'Unsolved Mysteries,' which probes unresolved enigmas from the Mary Celeste to UFOs. Will is currently writing a crime novel under a pen name.

Excellent clear and detailed account of the Princes Gate affair- from inside the embassy to the police & SAS actions - Worth Reading!!

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was fast-paced and kept the action moving. It told the story from many perspectives. The only thing I wish was that the photos that showed up in the middle of the kindle version didn’t ruin some of the ending. It gave away a bit about events towards the end. Other than that, it was a great book and I would recommend it.

Enjoyed it. Packed with detail and well balanced. I came to it via a Jack Reacher novel and appreciated the realism.

In brief, this is a concise and detailed account by those who participated in this incredible rescue event. The explanation/description of how the SAS coordinated the embassy rescue answered the questions pondered for over three decades.

A gripping story. As avid followers of international events, my husband and I remember this siege well as the coverage was very high in the US, along with the US hostage crisis. It was heartwarming to read how the hostages helped one another through the horror, as well as to read the painstaking planning for the rescue.

Great book , liked the fact it was written by people that were actually there . A fabulous day to day account of the terror and trauma the hostages went through. Also all the hard work put jnto place by the Government , Police , Sas etc to try and get a peaceful outcome with the enevitable consequences we know no happened.

First hand account of Op. Nimrod.
I was especially looking for such a book and I read it in like 2 days.
You get the whole vision of the operation, its background and aftermath, along with photographic material, schematics and in depth knowledge of political and social implications.

A hand picked must read for sf operatives to understand the in depth planning and precision required to carry out hostage rescue operations. An interesting eye-opener of the plight of hostages, terrorists and negotiators during a siege. Though the book itself falls prey to the stockholm syndrome, it also gives away some dirty tricks employed by the law enforcement agencies in such tight situations.

The best account of the Iranian embassy seige that I've read. It covers the entire event from the perspective of the police, SAS, hostages and gives insights into the backgrounds of the terrorists.

Very detailed without being dry.
